This is a two-day course. First aid training will provide your employees with the knowledge to
provide emergency help to an injured or suddenly ill person using readily available materials.
They will be trained in all aspects of the nationally standardized Red Cross program. We also
offer Emergency First Aid and Standard Re-certification First Aid training.
Standard First Aid including CPR
Day One:
- Introduction;
- Information about the Canadian Red Cross;
- Disease control;
- Anatomy and Physiology;
- Emergency medical assistance;
- Emergency action principles;
- Choking – Adult (Witnessed, unwitnessed and unconscious);
- Rescue Breathing – Adult;
- CPR – Adult;
- Choking – Child;
- Rescue breathing and CPR – Child;
- Infant choke, rescue breathing and CPR;
- Heart disease and stroke;
- Shock; and
- Secondary survey.
Day Two
- Review of day one;
- Poison and anaphylaxis;
- Soft tissue injuries;
- Bandaging;
- Heat and cold emergencies;
- Head, neck and spine injuries;
- Musculoskeletal injuries, flail chest;
- Splinting
- Casualty moves;
- Sudden medical conditions;
- Triage;
- Scenarios – Medical trauma; and
- Exam.
Emergency First Aid including CPR
- Introduction;
- Information about the Canadian Red Cross;
- Legal Issues;
- Disease control;
- Anatomy and Physiology;
- Emergency medical systems;
- Emergency action principles;
- Choking – Adult (witnessed, unconscious and unwitnessed);
- Rescue breathing – Adult respiratory distress;
- CPR – Adult;
- Child choke, rescue breath and CPR;
- Infant skills;
- Heart disease and stroke;
- Shock;
- Bleeding – impaled, amputated, pressure and tube sling;
- Secondary survey;
- Scenarios; and
